ellaquaint is an artist who is inspired by our natural environment and the taonga/treasures that dwell within it. She aims to capture something of the wairua/essence of the manu/birds and creatures that feature in her work; their personalities often evolve throughout the process of painting. Exaggerating survival features is a key component of ellaquaint’s detailed style as she aims to assist her wild subjects to survive in an uncertain world. Watercolour is her medium of choice; she creates fine art prints, greeting cards and postcards of the original paintings.
