We are highlighting a few of our stallholders with a "behind the scenes" look into who they are and their creative journey. We hope you enjoy learning a bit about the humans behind the products.
Tell us a little about yourself and your creative journey…
Encraftment and Felt have always had a close relationship, being that we are both about supporting and giving a platform for creatives to showcase and sell their creations. This year we’re being a bit more intentional about our relationship and Felt is officially partnering with us to support Encraftment and our stallholders. We thought you’d like to learn a bit more about the heart behind the brand of Felt:
Lucy, tell us a little about yourself and your creative journey…
It's hard to recall a time when there weren't many places online for creative Kiwis to sell their work, but in the mid-2000s options were pretty thin on the ground. I was working in graphic design and dabbling in selling my own handmade creations, so I thought I'd have a crack at designing an online marketplace – and to cut a long story short, Felt was born!
Keeping Felt going and growing for 16 years has not been an easy journey, but the hard times have always been balanced by the friendships, stories, connections, and community that have grown around it. Lovely, talented, passionate people who are making a go of it – they are probably my biggest source of inspiration.
I think to have quality creative output, you have to have plenty of diverse input – reading, chatting with different people, discovering new music, trying new foods, taking opportunities to learn new things – you never know where your brain will make connections.
I started Felt, but it wouldn't still be here without its small but incredibly strong and supportive team. I am really lucky to work on Felt with brilliant people who each excel at what they do, and who are in it to create something good.
