Sayoko Pettigrew is a Japanese-born painter and potter based in rural Selwyn. Her A–Z prints feature playful compositions of iconic Kiwi objects—one for each letter—rendered in gouache with bold colour, flat matte finishes, and hand-drawn outlines, inspired by pop art and Japanese woodblock prints. Her sculptural pottery is equally distinctive, with organic forms and signature holes that blend function and decoration, creating eye-catching pieces designed to spark curiosity and conversation.
